Sat in silence on my couch and watched my tax dollars at work. As the cops goaded me to make it easier on myself. I'd be a cop killer if looks could kill, they were only spared by that detail. But blood was shed in my vengeful mind! Now i'm bleeding from America. Hiding from America Never know when they'll show up, with their guns, to take me down. Well i heard they passed a law today that they'll arrest anybody... Without charge and detain them indefinitely. All they have to do is this. Call the man a 'terrorist.' No proof, no problem, and I'm sure you're ok with this. And we're fucked, but you don't care. I try to breathe but there's no air!

Awe & Panic 03:25
He worked his fingers to the bone only to get them chopped off But his bones calcified a while ago so he didn't feel a thing. A waltz he heard on the radio brought him to a French marketplace. Where a woman sighs longingly. Worry lines etched into her face. She sips her wine to try to remember the idea that made her shine. But she let it slip down the drain and lost it in the river Seine. Which flows to the English Channel and out to the Atlantic. Where i'm taking in its blues and greens with a sense of awe and panic. I'd feed the birds on the beach my last piece of food so I'm not lonely. And the depths of the ocean is just puddles compared to space. And that's frightening but inspiring. As I walked back to my car I got a song stuck in my head. It was written by my friend and it made me happy.

Pretty Girl 02:13
Pretty girl at the edge of a cliff, thinking she can fly. Searching the world for ripened fruit, but only finding peels and rinds. Pretty girl at the foot of the cliff, the waves wash your broken face. But not your wounded soul, which could be seen hurtling through outer space. Even gravity couldn't dissuade you. Or the promise of broken bones. Is the steady life, an honest lie, waiting for you at home? Pretty girl jumping off the cliff, right now you can fly. How's the view from way up there? I've always been too weak to try....

Damn Bugs 03:26
I'm a fly on the wall of the Capital building. Popping my compound eyes by screaming. But all you hear is the flapping of my wings. So swat me away like all the people in need. I'm a moth flying around the Broadway lights I only wanna entertain! I only wanna entertain! But you smeared my blood and guts all over the marquee Oh woe is me! Oh woe is me! I'm a roach underneath your kitchen sink. I only want what you don't eat. I only want what you don't need. But you trapped me and my children, threw us in a bag. And out on the cold, cracked street. I'm an ant working hard for the queen. I know my purpose well. I know my purpose well. But no union can protect us from your careless steps. As you bury us alive and damn our colony down to hell! We're those bugs and we're biting And we won't leave you alone.....

For The Road 02:48
I'm finding it impossible to draw a blank Like covering your tracks in the snow. Or like waiting for the bus or a cool refreshing breeze I'll find the strength to catch all of these Fleeting thoughts, flying through, and falling back into the freeway's flow. My brain is shutting off before i get these thoughts down. They're locking up and pulling down the shutters. I said. "Gimme one more thought for the road!" They said. "No, go to sleep you bum!" "Your bloodshot eyes aren't good for anyone!" My mind's a tangled mess of overpasses. Trembling and cracking under the traffic's weight. The concrete jungle is breathing through a sponge. And I'm stuck in its major artery. Sometimes in life I don't know where I am. But it's all irrelevent. We are where we stand. Where we stand alone....
6.
I don't think I own my own brain. I'm dulled by time's unstoppable parade. Like stones washed over by the sea. So smooth you cannot see the cracks in me. And all the years, the tears, the beer, the fear, the social veneer. Is catching up to us. And all the speed, the weed, the deeds, the greed, the advice i didn't heed. Is catching up to us. I don't think i own my own brain. There's a constant hum from all the electricity. It's never easy to tune it out just so you know. I guess that's why i didn't hear you go. I don't think i have anything left to say. The government is recording this anyway. Our infrastructure is a crumbling concrete wall With graffiti crossing out. "Justice for all." Waiting to fall.

I never thought I'd see a face like yours up in the moonlight. Dancing to the rhythm of the beeping cars and the traffic lights. I never thought I'd see a face like yours up in the moonlight. 2am candor de-evolves into 'fight-or-flight' Tonight! And i hope that you're doing alright. And i hope that you found a warm place to sleep tonight. I never thought i'd see a face like yours up in the moonlight Shouting at the moon like a rabid wolf looking for a bite I never thought i'd see a face like yours up in the moonlight. Counting up our change and sharing a 40 and a bag of chips tonight.

The 'Rents 02:25
My dad is a spacey guy. I don't know why he thinks like he does sometimes. My mom always wears a disguise. I don't know why she thinks like she does sometimes. My dad likes to ruin his life. I don't know why he thinks like he does sometimes. My mom likes to buy and buy. I don't know why she thinks like she does sometimes. Oh God i just realized that i think like my parents do sometimes!

And in time i will never be saved. Because in time i will be in a grave. And in time i won't be a wage slave. And in time i'll never have to behave. But I'm tired of living life like it's a race. And in time i won't be ashamed, because in time those atitudes will slowly fade. We won't have to come out about what we revere and worry about the different colors or the clothes that they wear. It's the same stupid dream that was said before. You know? The one that ended up with blood and tears on the floor. But it needs to be dreamt and it needs to be said. Before some crazy motherfucka comes and shoots you in the head.
10.
Counting dirty money that i'll never see again. Across town behind closed doors. A dealer does the same. The walls keep the secrets but who built them so well? And who stained them with smoke and that fungal whisky smell. Pieces of me scattered around this cracked up town. They're swept up and bagged up like the falling autumn leaves. One last walk around these streets. I feel the wind whip right through me. It's the souls who were consumed here. Before they could get up and leave. And oh oh oh it's such a drain. That old, old, old, old pain!
11.
We only reap what we sow That's why, neighbor, I'm worried for you. You let all your crops turn to dust. All your proud machinery is caked in rust. That's why I'm strummin' for rain. Make that mason jar in your heart full again. A wise man said. "You are not what you bought" *** But it seems to me what you paid for has got you caught. Running around a squeaky, financial, mouse wheel. Time goes by and you're still running still.

about

Rainy Day Cacophony Maryland

Rainy Day Cacophony is a constantly shifting cast of musicians playing songs mostly written by Tim Sutton who also sings and plays the guitar.

The "original" songs are catchy, raw, honest, and sometimes focus on socio-political themes, or don't even focus at all.
